Baraja is changing in the world of self-driving cars, through their invention of a new type of LiDar, called Spectrum-Scan which delivers the highest performance available.   Expanding globally, backed by some of the worlds greatest investors, this is Australia’s next $B tech company.   With a team of over 90 across Australia, the US and China, Baraja is now seeking to find a Mechanical Manager to join our team in Sydney. Our team has high-performing engineers and scientists that are investigating novel technologies for our autonomous vehicle sensors. You will report to the Mechanical Team Leader/VP Product Development

What are looking for:

A person to design high-quality mechanical components, processes and systems from concept to manufacturing, within a fast-paced and collaborative environment

And be responsible for:

  • High-quality Parts integrated smoothly into manufacturing.

  • Deliver rapid prototype iterations to prove system concepts

  • Review designs for mass manufacturing processes and to minimize component cost.

  • Clear component specifications and open communication with suppliers

  • Requirements and project milestones met and well communicated

  • Root cause analysis and problem-solving of mechanical issues

  • System and component designs verified to meet regulations and customer needs on time

  • Design test plans to characterize components and confirm the design direction.

  • Improve ongoing processes in the company and the team

     

About you:

  • 10 years of product development experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Industrial Design

  • Working with quality controls, to design, measure, and confirm process capability

  • Experience with solidworks or equivalent CAD, generating mechanical specifications

  • Experience with testing to customer requirements and working with standards 

  • Demonstrate innovation, determination and enthusiasm

  • Requires high volume automotive industry manufacturing experience.

     

  • Preferable experience with Assessment of risk (e.g. tools such as risk assessment or FMEA)

  • Preferable experience in Thermal modelling experience, CFD or FEA, Optics or Photonics

  • Familiar with LabVIEW, Python, or C
